چکیده

Ayoola G.A. et al 3 used four medicianal plants ie, leaves of carica papaya Linn, stem bark of magnifera Indica Linn, leaves of Psidium guagava used in the treatment of malaria. One of the major reasons for the development of anemia in malaria seems to be oxidative stress. The immune system of the body is activated by infections, including malaria, thereby causing the release of reactive oxygen species. In addition to this, the malaria parasite also stimulates certain cells to produce reactive oxygen species thereby resulting in hemoglobin degradation. Indeed, depressed level of plasma antioxidant has been shown in plasmodium falciparum infected children and it has been suggested as a possible contributor to the morbidity and mortality of malaria. The antioxidant activity of the plants extracts against 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl radical were determined by UV spectrometically at 517nm. 4-5 .

Rapid screening of antioxidant activity, fracture rate and scavenging of free radicals by hairy root of Periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus L. G. Don)

Background & Aim:Oxidative stresses caused by free radicals are known to promote many diseases such as inflammation and cancer; therefore, any plant product that can inhibit free radical production can play an important role in preventing diseases. We aimed to compare the fracture rate and the scavenging activity of free radicals, and the antioxidant composition of rol...
